{"id":198,"date":"2015-09-29T21:56:20","date_gmt":"2015-09-29T20:56:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/coneixement.info\/blog\/?p=198"},"modified":"2015-09-29T21:57:04","modified_gmt":"2015-09-29T20:57:04","slug":"25-ways-to-ask-your-kids-so-how-was-school-today-without-asking-them-so-how-was-school-today","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/coneixement.info\/blog\/25-ways-to-ask-your-kids-so-how-was-school-today-without-asking-them-so-how-was-school-today\/","title":{"rendered":"25 Ways To Ask Your Kids \u201cSo how was school today?\u201d Without Asking them \u201cSo how was school today?\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>NOTE: \u00a0This Post is now an APP that is available for purchase for 99 cents. \u00a0Every weekday all year round it will provide you with a different question to ask your kids\u2026and none of the questions are \u201cSo how was school today?\u201d \u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-smiley\" src=\"http:\/\/www.simplesimonandco.com\/wp-includes\/images\/smilies\/simple-smile.png\" alt=\":)\" width=\"27\" height=\"27\" \/> \u00a0You can find the APP <a href=\"https:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/us\/app\/talk2kids\/id1036046994?ls=1&amp;mt=8\">HERE<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This year Simon is in 4th grade and Grace is in 1st grade and I find myself asking them every day after school, \u201cSo how was school today?\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>And everyday I get an answer like \u201cfine\u201d or \u201cgood\u201d which doesn\u2019t tell me a whole lot.<\/p>\n<p>AND I WANT TO KNOW A WHOLE LOT!!!!<\/p>\n<p>Or at get at least a full sentence.\u00a0 So the other night I sat down and made a list of more engaging questions to ask about school.\u00a0 They aren\u2019t perfect\u2026but I do get at least complete sentences\u2026and some have lead to interesting conversations\u2026and hilarious answers\u2026and\u00a0a few\u00a0insights into how my kids think and feel about their time at school.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.simplesimonandco.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/25-Ways-to-ask-your-kids-how-was-school.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4672\" src=\"http:\/\/www.simplesimonandco.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/25-Ways-to-ask-your-kids-how-was-school-720x720.jpg\" alt=\"25 Ways to ask your kids how was school\" width=\"720\" height=\"720\" data-jpibfi-indexer=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>#1.\u00a0 What was the best thing that happened at school today?\u00a0 (What was the worst thing that happened at school today?)<\/p>\n<p>#2.\u00a0 Tell me something that made you laugh today.<\/p>\n<p>#3.\u00a0 If you could choose who would you like to sit by in class?\u00a0 (Who would you NOT want to sit by in class?\u00a0 Why?)<\/p>\n<p>#4.\u00a0 Where is the coolest place at the school?<\/p>\n<p>#5.\u00a0 Tell me a weird word that you heard today.\u00a0 (Or something weird that someone said.)<\/p>\n<p>#6.\u00a0 If I called your teacher tonight what would she tell me about you?<\/p>\n<p>#7.\u00a0 How did you help somebody today?<\/p>\n<p>#8.\u00a0 How did somebody help you today?<\/p>\n<p>#9.\u00a0 Tell me one thing that you learned today.<\/p>\n<p>#10.\u00a0 When were you the happiest today?<\/p>\n<p>#11.\u00a0 When were you bored today?<\/p>\n<p>#12.\u00a0 If an alien spaceship came to your class and beamed up someone who would you want them to take?<\/p>\n<p>#13.\u00a0 Who would you like to play with at recess that you\u2019ve never played with before?<\/p>\n<p>#14.\u00a0 Tell me something good that happened today.<\/p>\n<p>#15.\u00a0 What word did your teacher say most today?<\/p>\n<p>#16.\u00a0 What do you think you should do\/learn more of at school?<\/p>\n<p>#17.\u00a0 What do you think you should do\/learn less of at school?<\/p>\n<p>#18.\u00a0 Who in your class do you think you could be nicer to?<\/p>\n<p>#19.\u00a0 Where do you play the most at recess?<\/p>\n<p>#20.\u00a0 Who is the funniest person in your class?\u00a0 Why is he\/she so funny?<\/p>\n<p>#21.\u00a0 What was your favorite part of lunch?<\/p>\n<p>#22.\u00a0 If you got to be the teacher tomorrow what would you do?<\/p>\n<p>#23.\u00a0 Is there anyone in your class that needs a time out?<\/p>\n<p>#24.\u00a0 If you could switch seats with anyone in the class who would you trade with?\u00a0 Why?<\/p>\n<p>#25.\u00a0 Tell me\u00a0about three different times you used your pencil today at school.<\/p>\n<p>*****<\/p>\n<p>So far\u2026my favorite answers have come from questions #12. #15, and #21.<\/p>\n<p>I actually love questions like the \u201calien\u201d one (#12).\u00a0 They\u00a0give kids a non-threatening way to say who they would rather not have in their class, and open the door for you to have a discussion to ask why, potentially uncovering issues you didn\u2019t know about before.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>And the answers we get are sometimes really surprising.
